Digital Image Processing: End-Sem prep

Every MJPRU DIP paper we could find, analysed topic by topic. Notes for all five units, and three full mock papers answered the way MJPRU examiners mark: 4–5 pages of theory and a diagram for every long answer. MJPRU repeats itself, so this is built around what keeps coming back.

What MJPRU asks

The topics that keep coming back

Six papers (2017, 2018, 2019, 2025-26 end-sem and both 2025 mids), every question tagged. The bar shows how many of the six asked it.

The pattern. About 70% of the 2025-26 paper had appeared before, often word for word. Every 2025-26 end-sem question on morphology, segmentation and restoration had already appeared in that year's Mid-2. Units 1–4 done well are enough to choose 5 of 8 comfortably. See the full analysis →

A plan for the days before the exam

Four phases. Do them in order; each card links to the pages it needs.

Phase 1 · Learn the pattern

PYQs and answer style

Phase 2 · Units 1 and 2

Half the marks

  • Unit 1: histogram equalization numerical twice
  • Mean, median and max filter numerical
  • Unit 2: degradation model and noise models

Phase 3 · Units 3, 4, 5

Morphology and segmentation

  • Unit 3: dilation, erosion, opening, closing, RGB↔HSI
  • Unit 4: thresholding, edges, split and merge
  • Unit 5: one answer each, as a backup
